Have you had a Krispy Kreme this morning?

Good Morning

My wife is sitting over my right shoulder this morning saying "Rob you need to hurry up so you can go outside and start building the fence." She's right, I gotta get off my duff and do something meaningful over this vacation. Our littlest puppy-dog managed to get out on New Year's Eve because the fence isn't tall enough to keep them in the back yard. They just hang around because that's where the food is. At least I only have to build about a twelve foot section.

Old Friend

Lori found the web site of a dear old friend. Dr. S. Douglass Gilman. We graduated from Exeter Union High School together in 1985. Doug was the resident smart kid, looks like he put his talents to good use!

Happy Birthday Bro!

My brother turns 32 today! You are 32 right Jay? Well regardless of your age, Happy Birthday!

Movie Line of the week

So my brother, mentioned above, is the only person that plays this game with me! That's ok. Jay you correctly guessed "Men In Black". It's the scene when Will Smith puts on the MIB suit for the first time.

Code, bloggerCOM

Richard and I have talked a bunch about taking bloggerCOM from VB to C++. Last night I decided to start working on it. I have the interface defined and the first method working, namely Submit. Hopefully I'll be able to hack on it some more tonight. I'd like to get a nice object hierarchy created for it, then I just might put a manged front end on it as a .NET exercise. It just takes time, more time than I have unfortunately, but I'll work at it. I hope to post V2 of bloggerCOM soon. Then I'll start on IBloggerCOMEx, the version with the object hierarchy.

My biggest fan!

Carlos, a.k.a. Carl, loves this site. Here's what he had to say about it.

"When they catch bin Laden they should make him read Rob's site."
Can you feel the love! Thank you for your support.

Car Trouble

Our woes with our Passport continue. It looks as if we have a bad head gasket or even worse a cracked head. The funny thing about it is we took the car in months ago and told them it was overheating and stuttering when it warmed up. They put it on the computer and found that, in their words, "there's nothing wrong with it". Okay... So I asked if they took it on the road to reproduce the problem. Sure they say, but according to the paperwork it was ONLY put on the machine to diagnose the problem. So much for mechanics. Today we have part-changer-outers not mechanics. So here we are a couple of months later, same problem only worse, and now we possibly have a cracked head. Go figure!

Looks like we're going to have to rent a car for a week or two while they fix the problem.

Movie line of the week.

Ok, ok, so the movie line of the day didn't go over so well. I figured I'll just do it once a week on Thursday and post the results on Friday. So here is the new and improved "Movie line of the day."

"You want to know the difference between you and me? I make this look good."
Ok quick what movie! Send your answers here.

Mac

Ok so I didn't get a Mac for Christmas. I still think Kim is going buy me one some day, right honey? Well I'm hoping, like everyone else, that Mr. Steve Jobs has something new and exciting to share at MacWorld. Hopefully the nifty neeto flat panel replacement for the iMac! Maybe it'll be sexy enough to get my lovely wife to let me get one!

There ya go!

On 12.29 I asked if Greg Franklin was still alive and well. Apparently he is and he's writing again!

Happy New Year Greg, I'm glad you're still alive and kicking!

Happy New Year!

Ya, ya I know the day is almost over! I've been on vacation and I haven't found the time to be on the computer. I need a vacation from my vacation! It's just about over and I don't know where it's gone. Ahhhhhhhh! I think I'm going to take the rest of the week off and see if I can manage some more outings with Kim and the girls.

My brother invited us to head up to Shaver lake with his family tomorrow and go tromp around in the snow, SOUNDS GREAT! Only one problem, our stoopid car has decided to break down yet again! GRRRRRR!! It keeps overheating so it's going back into the shop bright and early tomorrow morning so they can hopefully fix it once and for all. Ya right... I think it has a cracked head, that stinks.

Cass McNutt: "How come so many people's personal web logs only get updated on days they are working?" That's a really good question Cass!

While you're visiting Cass take a look at this entry. Cass is working on a PIM just for himself and has some questions for ya. Help him out!

Oh... BTW, Good luck with the new job Jay!

Well I'll be darned!

Congratulations to Blogger on being named one of the seven wonders of the web! Great job guys!

Hey Ev when are you going to start selling the backend to Blogger? The world awaits!

MSN

We're switching over to MSN from my curent provider, for no other reason than we have a server sitting idle. So like I said the other day CrabApples.NET is moving to a new location so we needed a new source for dial-up. Since I work for "The Evil Empire" MSN seemed like a nice logical choice. I'm even using our cheezy MSN Explorer to browse the web. It has a pretty nice cartoonish interface and since IE is really just an ActiveX Control the MSN Shell application takes advantage of it! Nice guys! I'm sure I'll continue to use plain 'ole IE on a daily basis but this UI isn't so bad.

Football

I haven't seen a football game in about a month-and-a-half! I love football and it was about to kill me. Well yesterday I was finally able to catch a game over at my grandmothers house! Thanks grandma.

Oh, all you San Francisco Forty-Winer fans out there. Get ready for disappointment. If the Niners can't beat the Cowboys, my favorite team, then I wouldn't expect them to get past the first round of the playoffs. They have a great record but can't beat a good team, heck they couldn't beat the lowly Cowboys! Let the flame mail begin!

So who's your pick for Super Bowl champs? Anyone betting on the Rams?
