Movie line of the week answer - [9:57 AM]

Well, well, well, every time I think I have a good stumper somebody gets it right! Yesterday's movie line was no exception. I'd expected zero correct guesses, actually I'd expected zero guesses, and four people guessed it! Go figure.

The Quiet Man movie posterOur winner is Ian McKenzie, congratulations Ian. Hey with a name like that he should have gotten this one! The film in question was set in Ireland and Ian McKenzie sounds Irish to me!

The correct answer is...

The Quiet Man

Thanks to all who played!

Order of the Phoenix Covers - [3:41 PM]

HPANA: "Left to Right: UK Children's Cover, UK & US Adult Cover, US Children's Cover" - I'm a little disappointed with the US cover. It's very cold looking. That's probably a clue as to the tone of the book. The Potter book covers have always given away a bit about the story if you take a close look at them. Maybe the story is turning yet another corner, going deeper into the dark corners of the magical world? This cover is such a departure from the Goblet of Fire cover. That cover was so bright. I'd hoped this one would follow along the same lines. That's ok, I'm still buying it!

Movie line of the week - [9:56 AM]

Watchin' it on the big screen! If the Oscars and the NCAA Tournament can go on in the face of war so can Movie line of the week!

I promised a stumper this week let's see if I can pull it off. This is from an old movie I really enjoy and I'd highly recommend.

He'll regret it till his dying day, if ever he lives that long.

Ok, quick, what movie! Send your guesses here.

It's time to pay the piper...

Tick-tock-tick-tock... - [11:16 AM]

Time is running down. As of this entry we have ~6 hours to avoid war. Any betting folks out there? What's the line in Vegas?

My guess is 5PM (PST) all hell will break loose. I keep hoping either we'll get what we've asked for or President Bush will pull a fast one and not attack right away, instead choosing a stealth approach with special ops to bump off the heavy hitters in the confusion surrounding Baghdad.

There's already some promise coming out of the desert. Hopefully this will be a continuing trend, I have a sneaking suspicion it will be until we reach Baghdad. Maybe we'll catch a break and the people will rise up and turn Saddam Hussein and his leadership. Who knows. These things have a weird way of playing out. I'm sure before it's over there will be numerous surprises and it's probably not going to go as well as the Gulf War did.

One can only hope and pray this is over soon.

Potter and travel - [4:46 PM]

When our family takes a road trip we like to listen to audio books to pass the time. Since Kim introduced me to Harry Potter about three years I can't get enough it! This year we'll be heading to the lake the last week of June, which is pretty much the usual time for us. The great thing about our timing this year is the release of Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix. I thought we'd have to fight over the book on our little vacation but The Leaky Caludron is reporting that Listening Library has secured the rights to publish audio tapes for OoP and they release on June 21, along with the book! So it looks like we'll have to run out and buy the CD version as well.

Here's hoping Jim Dale is back!

I love it when tools just work! Just added another line to my cheezy ping batch file to ping blogrolling.com and it worked like a charm!

A storm is coming... - [10:20 AM]

If you're in Baghdad, or have loved ones in Baghdad, get out now. It's clear we're going to invade Iraq and have a presence there for years to come. Get out now while you can.

There's is still hope. Only Saddam Hussein has the power to put and end to the inevitable. Mr. Hussein if you want to save your people get out now, maybe the French will take you in? I hear Paris is extremely beautiful. Do yourself and your country a favor and leave now. The proverbial writing is on the wall.

If we do this we'd better darned well find weapons of mass destruction or there should be hell to pay. I'm guessing our leaders know a LOT more than they've told us. Nuff said.
